Thoughts from Ethan

The other day I told Ethan that he and Katelyn were my favorite people in the whole world (except for Daddy, of course) and Ethan said, "We're not people, Mommy. We're little kids!"

Then last night I told Ethan that we needed to get him so new shoes. He said, "If I get bigger shoes, I can be Jesus and help people." I'm not sure exactly the thought behind that statement, but at least he recognizes that Jesus leaves some big shoes behind to fill! : )

The kids' first snowball fight--they won!

Let it snow!

We woke up from our naps to a Winter Wonderland. The kids LOVED it and cried when we made them come back in. Their favorite thing to do was throw snowballs at us--video coming later.

Valentines

These pics are late, but the kids really enjoyed making cupcakes for their Valentine's parties at school.

Nasty cold week, wonderful warm weekend!

After a week with the temperature being in the teens, this weekend in the 60's (and even 70's) has been heavenly. We've had the windows open all day and have spent most of the afternoon outside playing and running around. I think the kids (and me!) will sleep well tonight. I forgot how much I loved being outside and being in warm weather. It's been so invigorating! Right now, the windows are still open, the kids are relaxing watching a show and I am cooking spaghetti. Life can't get better than this! : )

Beating the Winter Blues....

Okay, so I was looking at a friend's blog and I saw her last post was at the end of December and I thought "Come on, now! You need to get some more posts here." Then I saw I hadn't updated mine since then either. I guess not too much is really going on. We aren't really going anywhere since the weather is chilly and rainy which isn't too conducive to trips.

Today we're off from school, but just laying around the house. Ethan's got a yucky cough so he's allowed to lay on the couch and watch some shows. Earlier though, we were having fun dressing up and running around the house. I've also been reading Christian History Made Easy. It's AMAZING and I can't believe how so many of us Christians really have no idea of our own Christian heritage (which is both shocking and humbling).

Here's some pics of our dress up time.

I keep their Halloween costumes so they can dress up in them.

Yes, she really is my daughter though you can't see too much Mommy genes in there. She's got my crazy hair and that's about it.

Princess Katelyn at your service. We have a Princess music CD that Katelyn loves dancing too. I've got to video it some time because it's so adorable.

Ethan's Christmas Show Performance

Ethan was hilarious in our Kid's Christmas show. In this song (the only one he actually knew), he was pretty good. The rest of the time he tried to push others off the stage in his attempt to get to the microphone, sang random words, stood with his arms open to me asking for a hug and being the "kid" that always makes these things entertaining. He even had some of the other kids on the stage cracking up. It was really hard to keep a serious face while I was watching!

Christmas Pictures

Ethan and Katelyn were not scared of Santa this year! Ethan was very bold telling Santa that he wanted a Little Einsteins Rocket Ship and a Diego Dinosaur rescue center (which he got!).
This wasn't her first Santa encounter this year. When Tracy took her to school one day, Santa was there. She promptly ran up to Santa (in front of the others) got in his lap and told him she was a princess and wanted candy for Christmas.
Relaxing with Daddy!

The Christmas Parade train--and Ethan fell asleep in it like he did last year!

This has fascinated Katelyn all Christmas. They sing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" mooing, meowing or barking.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas day. We certainly enjoyed ourselves--so much so that I really didn't take any pictures!

Happy a wonderful New Year too!

It's Christmas Time!

I can never get these pictures in order, but here is Katelyn's Christmas tree. I had the same bow for Ethan, but he freaked out and said that bows were for girls!!

They enjoyed decorating Katelyn's tree.

Our decorated Christmas tree. I love Christmas! We had a great time decorating the tree as a family and listening to Christmas songs!

Katelyn playing with the nativity.

Tracy put up some lights outside and the kids say "Good morning, lights!" every day (even at night).

Ethan's Christmas tree!

Little People Nativity

Last year, Janice bought the kids this adorable nativity set and the kids love it!

Who says there isn't a difference between boys and girls?

Notice how cute and sweet Katelyn is dancing and then Ethan comes on the scene stomping feet and flailing arms! : )

Amy's funny Elf video

This is hilarious--Amy made this video with pictures of herself, her cat, Janice, Ethan and Katelyn. I died laughing. She did another one with Tracy and me too and as soon as I get it, I'll put the link too. Click here.

Ethan's Birthday Party

Ethan helped make his birthday cake.
The masterpiece! Ethan loves chocolate cake!

Yes, Katelyn got presents too, but Ethan really did get more and he has been so great about sharing!

Thank you Nana and DaddyBob--Ethan's playing this as I type! This toy may find it's way to Nana's house for a visit! : )

MiMi (Amy) got Katelyn the cute tiara and earrings and Katelyn kept saying that she looked like MiMi because she had earrings on. It was too cute!

About to blow out the candles!

All by himself--what a big boy!

The party got crazy after a while with the kids running around like crazy and Katelyn changing her wardr0be!
Ethan had a great birthday! Thursday night we stayed at home and just had cupcakes then Friday night we took him to see Bolt, his first movie in a theater. Ethan sat still the whole time and when it ended, he said, "Again!" For his birthday party, we just had family over and the kids loved it. The theme was Thomas the Train. Ethan got a neat Handy Manny toy that he and Katelyn have been playing with from MiMi. He got a guitar and big Lightning McQueen from Nana and DaddyBob (which he slept with) and he got a Thomas the Train train set from me, Tracy, Grandpa and Terry. We joked that it's going to be hard to beat this at Christmas!
